i just watched this yesterday, very good but i warn you is not for everyone´s taste , it plays like a horror drama, with a very slow pacing at moments but with very intense and well stage creep out moments too. The movie is not told in a linear way and it was at some points confusing, very confusing i might say, i think most of the theater didn´t get the film, but if you think about the film afterwards it all comes out togheter and it makes sense and once that happens is very rewarding, i liked it a lot, worth a look.

i just read at fango that there is a relase date for this in NY, here is the tip:
"Updating our story here about Tartan Films’ U.S. release of Kim Ji-woon’s acclaimed A TALE OF TWO SISTERS, Fango has learned that the film is no longer set to open at New York City’s ImaginAsian theater due to a scheduling conflict. But it will play at NYC’s Cinema Village as planned, beginning December 17. There’s also a new trailer for the movie on-line; you can check it out here. —Michael Gingold"

just watched this today. great visuals, intense music, but very confusing. i like films that give you multiple points of view without explaining too much. this film would be great for drunken debates. asian horror films often paint pictures without linear plot lines and i like that freedom to interpret plot/meaning. someone told me the script is being adapted for an olsen twins american version. i shudder in fear and glee...

It takes a couple of viewings to really appreciate it I think. It's worth buying for so many little details that get missed the first time around. *spoilers coming* The ending explains everything in the movie--the girl imagines her sister is still alive, she also imagines herself as the stepmother in many parts throughout the movie. In that respect, it has some similar elements to Psycho and the Other. However in this film it's so expertly put together that it's hard to tell when the stepmother is really doing something and when the girl is acting as the stepmother, because you see the whole movie from the girl's viewpoint. The confusion of identity you have as a viewer is the same as the confusion that the girl experiences. The movie ends up taking you along into her psyche and rationale, which makes the whole story really unique and enjoyable in a schizophrenic, clausterphobic kind of way.

Yes, it took me a fefw times to get it as well. Actually it had me so creeped out and I was home alone that I turned it off halfway through twice and then watched it in full twice so I saw it a total of 4 times. The score is amazing and I would definitely regard it as one of my favorite films of 2005.

To me, this film is simply exquisite!! I can't remember another "horror" movie that manages to be so marvellously beautiful and so profoundly creepy at the same time. It's a real gem in my collection. Very effective disorienting techniques are used to pull you in - and though you may be seriously confused by the conclusion, this is a film that really does bear repeated viewing. In fact, watching again will clear things up and bring the whole thing into better focus.

Strangely enough - I think this film is better than 'Ringu' in many ways, but it still doesn't displace 'Ringu' from my top spot.

'Two Sisters' is massively underrated in my opinion.
