Has anyone seen this film from Korea? It isn't entirely horror, I would actually have to say move of an outre love story. But you know, like many of these film, sort of difficult to entirely classify. It does have a murder and some difficult to watch/painful scenes.....

As countrys go i would say japan just because i would like to go there. It wouldn't be a school because thats been done alot. Also not a single haunted house but more like a whole street cursed by a force of evil

Just saw Suicide Club...er...

I finally saw Suicide Club. I was expecting a lot from this film based on the reviews. It started well, had a little more of a kitschy feel than most films of this genre. The premise was well constructed. Then...I dunno, it all fell apart at the end, like they ran out of money or something. Which frustrates me, because everything had built up so well up to that point, it could have been an amazing film if they had made it about half an hour longer. Has anyone else seen it?

I usually like more films in the ghost end of the spectrum, but the mixture of lengthy dreaming for a possible eternity, intensity of an asylum and gross special effects (at times almost tongue in cheek) is a delight :) It's a fairly low budget film, but the atmosphere and ideas are awesome. In fact most things about it are awesome.. If you can find it you should watch it if you haven't already.

Don´t know if a lot of you recognize this title, but it is a popular PlayStation 2 videogame following the line of J-Horror. The game became very popular and a film adaptation has been shot in japan ( the game was set on a japanese island ). You can check the trailer for the film at the link i am providing, doesn´t look anything very special but seems that is being quite a hit at the japanese box office. No reviews yet on www.imdb.com

Well, I'll be dashed if you weren't right, Mario. Yet another great Korean horror movie comes out of nowhere. Just saw Kim Yong-Gyun's Red Shoes. Apparently inspired by the folk tale, I highly recommend it.

has anyone seen this?? it totlly kicks ass! i guess it's a part of a trilogy. it's got an awesome story line, and is pretty disturbing in areas! i highly recommend it, even though i don't think it's a complete horror movie, but it still made me cringe in some parts!

Have any of you seen this film series? the first 2 were video movies, then there is 2 features films and now the american remake to the first japanese feature film. If you have seen it what you think about them and which is your favorite. I have seen the first video film and the 2 feature films and my favorite is the second feature film and the first video film.

what defines what is horror?

is a horror movie, one that menaces our senses with alien creatures, with the accompany of jumping sounds????Or is horror the new cinema that we have been seeing, like in dumplings or oldboy that really makes you sick when watching it. that makes your whole body respond to what is being fed to you. that for me is horror....a movie that can mess up your stomach, your sense of disgustness....is it more appaling to see an ugly creature jumpin at you, or a woman eating an unborn baby????????

i just saw the eye 10, and i have to say im starting to question whether the loss of identity is bound to hit the asian cinema, that had been kept within walls for so long. whislt the western world opened up, Japan even though it has been evoluting like no other country was still closed at the world, mainly because their web pages is in characters and therefore its harder to get a grip of what is going on. However, since these past years their market became like honey their entrance in the world meant that it's a stick with 2 ends. who influences who?Ringo Lam influences Tarantino. Tarantino influences the new emerging director.ghibli influenced disney.....US remakes???where are we heading?is asian cinema, and its uniqueness in danger??????after having seen the eye 10, i have to say WHAT A MAJOR DISAPPOINTMENT!!!!!!!!!talk about americanization...........the eye 2 was bad , but this is way .......far!!!!!!!once the formula (japanese horror) is on the hands of everyone, does it make it trully horrific?repetition is the biggest killer ever.......

Takashi Ichise´s J-Horror Theater fisrt 2 movies

Takashi Ichise is the producer of such horror hits as the "Ringu" and the "Ju-On" series and "Dark Water". After the national and international success of such films Ichise decided to produce a series of asian horror films under the logo of "J-Horror Theater".
The first 2 just opened in Japan and they are called "Kansen" ("Infection") and "Yogen" ("Premonition") and they seem to be pretty good too , here are 2 reviews for the films posted by the Japan Times Online:

Shaolin v. Evil Dead

Like campy kung fu flicks filled with fighting vampires and zombies? Across between Army of Darkness and Crouching tiger. Nice gory effects, real kung fu. Check it out. Anyone seen this. The end credits looked cool, but I wish they would have had these parts actually in the movie.

Saw it last night as part of the ATL film fest, and liked it, despite it being a little longer than it needed to be and the apocalyptic flavor that seemed liked an after thought. Who's the older guy on the ship? Anyway, what I like most is the thread of trying to explain the nature of ghosts in some of these Japanese horror films. Ju-on does the same. The ghosts don't just want you to fear them, but sort of understand them as well. So many American horror flicks are just a freak in a signature costume with a sharp object ripping up horny teenagers. Looking into the psychology behind this: it's just puritanical bullshit, sin is punished. American don't want to face the horror of loneliness in a horror context. Formulaic 'suspense' and gore doesn't cut it for me.

I just finished watching The Curse 1 and the Curse 2, they are by the same director of the grudge, its the same characters but their stories are separated and told individually. very creepy, and its not shot in a traditional way its shot in a almost studentfilm like way. anyone seen these two movies?

hey does anyone saw all 3? i saw just the first one but i came throught a dvd pack with all 3 in france and i can get it just dunno how good are the other 2, i heard mixed reviews about the second one and some good stuff about the third one although i know is more drama. also want to know if they look nice i heard both are kinda stylish , i am a sucker for good eye candy and cinematography.

Ju-on selling at Target?

So last night while shopping at target.. i see this "RED" DVD cover.. as i get closer.. i see japanese writing.. start thinking to myself.." no, way! not here" .. and what do i see, Target was ( i picked up the last copy) selling the DVD format of JU-ON.

Almost no English on the box.. all Japanese.
Hmmmm makes me wonder what other films are out there..

The Ring 2 trailer

***SPOILERS***

I just saw it and i was mostly pleased with what i saw , i think the teaser for the first time was cooler and creepier but of course it was the first film and they played a lot with the images of the tape and now that surprise factor is gone cause everyone that saw the first film knows about it. I liked how they focused on the dark past of Samara´s origins and her eternal presence playing with the water scenes (which by the way look very close to "Dark Water" scenes) and the rest was nice if you go frame by frame oh man you can start think about so many things , was that me or that quick shot of a girl in the car was the niece of Rachel who died in the first scene of the first one?

hey...question about this tribe

Is there anything wrong with just an "all foreign horror movies" tribe? I was going to make one when I found this one and though, "Close enough", but there are a lot of good German and Italian (and lately, Spanish) horror films that I think are as good as what's coming out of Japan, Korea, and Hong Kong right now.

If you want proof, go rent "Anatomy" tonight. It's a German film variation on the slasher flick staring Franka Potente. Then there's everything by Argento from Italy. Also Augustin Almodovar has been making horror-ish movies in Spain. The last one I watched was "The Devil's Backbone", which really wasn't that horrific but it did have a ghost in it.

What do you guys think about the fact that several Asian horror films are now getting US remakes, i.e. Ju-on, Dark Water, Phone, A Tale of Two Sisters, Dead Friend, The Eye (possibly), etc... Do you think it's a good way to get Americans interested in Asian horror or just a good way for US production companies to cash in?
